Hi!

I used to be a professor. Now I'm retired and trying to figure out my life. It's exciting and a little scary, like the first semester in college. Some days I knit. But you probably came here because you know me as a writer, not a knitter.

Yes! I am still writing. Or writing again; I took a long break while I re-considered the future of the Book That Must Not Be Named. Now it's dead, or maybe just asleep. Don’t ask. 

My current work is on Substack. Most of it is on Spiral Notebook: occasional essays, poems and drawings, in addition to weekly digests of my journals beginning in 1964-1965. I am also very occasionally posting about gender and clothing on  a different Gender Mystique. My old blog on clothing and gender, also called Gender Mystique, is no longer being updated, but is linked here for reference purposes.
